Sprout Fashion Show

Yes, I know I use that photo A LOT!

Madeline Fretz - When Sprout launched in 2005, it was a joint venture between PBS, HiT Entertainment, Sesame Workshop, and Comcast, and aired programs from the companies' archive libraries. Sprout was a children's channel like no other - shows aired in original programming blocks hosted by puppet characters and adult hosts. The hosts would do typical kids' show fare like sing songs, play games, tell stories, and make crafts and recipes.

One thing that bugs parents about kids' show hosts is that they wear the same outfits every single episodes (there being few exceptions, such as Joe from Blue's Clues). Today I'm going to look at outfits Sprout's hosts wore. Welcome to the Sprout Fashion Show! Sorry, no winter clothes or third generation outfits here. Enjoy!

Originally, Nina wore the same pajamas in every episode of The Good Night Show, like most adult characters from live-action kids' shows. However, in 2011, Sprout announced the sixth season of The Good Night Show, and held a poll known as "You Pick the PJs," in which viewers were encouraged to pick new pajamas for Nina. When the sixth season premiered on November 7th, Nina got four new pairs of pajamas - purple, pink, and red with buttons, while still wearing her regular outfit.

Now let's take a look at the Sunny Side Up Show hosts (or the "SSUers" as I call them). Original host Kevin wore a variety of Hawaiian outfits during his time on both Sunny and its predeseccor(sp?) The Birthday Show. Outfits included: Blue with oranges, purple with bananas, pink with oranges, pink with bananas.

Some of Kelly's outfits from over the years have included - red, blue, and green (not pictured) tops, red checkered top, red and white checkered top, blue checkered top, and red sweaters.

During his time on The Sunny Side Up Show, Sean wore orange, red, and blue checkered shirts.

Dennisha's snazzy outfits from 2009 to 2014 have included purple tops, a purple top with flowers, and a white shirt with flowers.

Liz was on The Sunny Side Up Show from 2010 to 2012, and her outfits have included a blue dress, blue, red (not pictured), and green shirts, a green and yellow striped shirt, and pink (not pictured) and green tops.

One of the longest-running Sunny Side Up Show hosts, Carly wore blue and red vests, yellow and blue jackets, overalls, a red shirt (not pictured), and a checkered shirt.

On The Sunny Side Up Show from 2013 to 2017, Tim wore a brown vest, a blue shirt with a red pocket, and a shirt with stars and a pink pocket, amongst other cool outfits.

Kaitlin wore a grey shirt with a yellow pineapple, blue checkered shirts, strawberry (not pictured) and green apple shirts, and countless sweaters.

Emily wore a pink jacket and a blue top, and I think those were the only outfits she wore during the second generation.

Anyways, while most kids' show hosts wear the same outfits, Sprout's had many different ones over the years, and thanks for taking a look at 'em! Bye, Sproutlets!
