WHO IS STAR? This is Star from
The Good Night Show, played by Stacia Newcomb. He debuted during the second season in July 2006, shortly before original host Melanie Martinez got fired. The original Star puppet was built by Sally Presig of Mimics Productions, best known for her roles on CBeebies shows. Starting in 2011's Season 6, Star hosted the segments where he would talk with real kids. Star also appeared in animated form in
Nina's World and in
Nina's Little Fables. He has also appeared in the
Good Night Star app and has had merchandise, including plush, on the Shop Sprout website.
WHY DOES THE GOOD NIGHT SHOW NEED STAR? Star represents his preschool viewers at home. Star asks his maternal figure Nina for more time to stay up, which is what many kids ask their parents for. By the end of the block, he goes to bed and falls asleep.
