Sleepover

Madeline Fretz - Good morning Sproutlets, and welcome to the not first, not second, but THIRD day of Sprout-tober 2021, where we share our favorite Sprout memories. Today I'm here to talk about a "box bumper" that aired on Sprout during the second generation.

(Note: appears at the 0:26 mark)

In this box bumper, two kids play with flashlights and say "goodnight" to the viewers. They continue playing as we see a box with the Sprout logo on it. This noticeably has the music from the Moon ident, which premiered the same year. The ident usually aired during or after The Good Night Show.

This ident also appeared in the Pajanimals on-demand outro.

Dan Zanes

Madeline Fretz - Lemme tell ya. Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, and Yo Gabba Gabba! are all known for their fair share of celebrity guest stars, and The Sunny Side Up Show was one of the many to follow in their footsteps. One of the many guest stars who appeared on Sunny was children's singer Dan Zanes. If you watched Sprout in the early 2010s, chances are your first discovery of Zanes was on the Sunny Side Up Show set, appearing several times, usually with Sonia de los Santos or Elizabeth Mitchell (whose cover of "Three Little Birds" was in a Sprout Please commercial in 2008).

Born on November 8th, 1961, Zanes and his band, Dan Zanes and Friends, have appeared on children's TV several times - on NOGGIN during their "Move to the Music" segments and have sang two songs on Sesame Street. One of them, "Jump Up," was featured on the Happy Healthy Monsters DVD, released in 2005.

In 2012, Zanes and Sonia de los Santos appeared on The Sunny Side Up Show for Music Week with Carly Ciarrocchi and Chica. They sang "Jim Along Josie," "All Around the Kitchen," and the classic song "Make New Friends."

Zanes and Elizabeth Mitchell appeared the next year with Sean Roach and Chica. They sang a song called "Happy to Be Here."

Everything Reminds Me of Sprout

Madeline Fretz - I may be the world's BIGGEST Sprout fan. All I see is Sprout. In fact, Sprout is everywhere in my life. Everything reminds me of Sprout. Why? I'll tell you why.

Places

Lots of places I go to or pass remind me of Sprout. Let's start with Carytown in Richmond. I went there a lot back when I regularly played on the Sprout Games and Videos app, and driving by it now reminds me of Sprout.

We also drive through the city of Richmond a lot. In 22, whenever we dropped off my sister at the Richmond Ballet, I played the Sprout Please commercial and Sprout is Always Here for You because the big city reminded me of them.

Food

Eating apples always reminds me of Sprout. Whenever I eat hot dogs, I go on recipe pages on the Wayback Machine archives of Sproutonline.com.

Music

Music reminds me of Sprout a lot. A lot of George Michael reminds me of Sprout and CBeebies too.

Other children's shows

ANY live action children's show reminds me of Sprout. Enough said.

So that’s why Sprout is everywhere in my life.

My Week with Promotions and Initiatives: Produce for Kids

Happy October, Sproutlets! Today is also the first day of Sprout-tober, so stay tuned for Instagram posts in the intervening thirty-one days. Anyhoo, let's get into today's topic.

In 2012, Sprout partnered with the website Produce for Kids to share healthy kid-friendly recipes.

In addition, Sprout and Produce for Kids partnered for "Get Healthy, Give Hope" signs in grocery stores featuring characters from LazyTown, Noodle and Doodle, and Chica herself (she's in the above picture), and characters would make appearances in stores IN PERSON.

My Week with Promotions and Initiatives: Save Sprout

The Save Sprout campaign was created by The Chase, who also created the Live Sprout branding.

You see, Sprout and DIRECTV have been neglecting for a year in 2012, and it was announced that DIRECTV would no longer carry Sprout. The people at Sprout launched a website where people would call 1-866-9-SPROUT or talk about why they loved Sprout.

It totally worked!

Weekly Character Wednesdays - Nicholas

NICHOLAS

APPEARED IN:

Sprout Weekends promo (2005/2006)

BEST-KNOWN ROLE:

Four year old boy, TV watcher

WHO IS NICHOLAS? This is Nicholas. He appeared in a Sprout Weekends promo from around 2005 and/or 2006. In the commercial, 4-year old Nicholas is in his pajamas and has a blanket and teddy bear. Nicholas talks about weekend mornings - he snuggles up with his mom on their big couch and he watches his favorite TV shows.

WHY DOES SPROUT NEED NICHOLAS? Sprout needs Nicholas to have an animated character in a promo. Nicholas is also the same age as the viewers.

Big news!

Madeline Fretz - Hi, Sproutlets. It's me, Maddie. Today, I have some news - since 2020, this site has been a part of Blogger/Blogspot. ...
