Come On, Let's Grow now with Sprout

 

Madeline Fretz - Every day, I go on YouTube and search "PBS Kids Sprout" videos under "this week." Most videos are either ones of regular PBS Kids or of Sprout content I’ve seen before. Well, today, Enoch Boateng the PBS Kid posted a video of something Sprout-related I hadn't seen before. Behold, what appears to be a PBS image spot for Sprout using "Come On, Let's Grow!."

This promo probably aired on PBS stations, and appears to be from a PBS commercial break. The promo features "Come On, Let's Grow," except it features clips of real kids (and Nina and Star) with a screenbug of the Sprout logo instead of real kids and Sprout characters in the storybook-like world of the first generation. The song is also shortened in the promo as well.

Anyways, it's nice to see a rare Sprout rarity pop up on YouTube today. I hope we find more rare stuff soon!

The TV Media Fan and Expert

Madeline Fretz - In 2019, the TV Media Fan and Expert (formerly King NOGGIN) was founded. The channel uploads "rare" clips from channels like NOGGIN and Sprout, and, for some reason, won't stop making videos. While this channel has uploaded many Sprout videos in the past, today, it uploaded a video of rare pictures I think are fake, like most of the stuff he uploads.

This has to be my favorite of his videos, but I don't know if it's real.

Some actually rare images are low quality, so TV Media Fan has recreated them. Example above.

...and makes instrumentals of certain songs and production music.

The video, which is set to an instrumental of the theme from The Sprout Sharing Show, consists of fake, yet "rare" pictures, something the TV Media Fan and Expert is known for. 

The first picture is of a promo for the show Jakers! The Adventures of Piggley Winks, which premiered on Sprout in 2006. This picture takes place around the second generation; Jakers! stopped airing a few months before the rebrand on March 31st, 2009, and I don't think Jakers! aired on The Sharing Show. Fakers!

The second picture is of Frances on The Sprout Sharing Show. Frances probably never aired on The Sharing Show - it aired for a while during Summer Fun Fridays, was available on Sprout on Demand, and an episode aired for Hooray for Mother's Day in 2010.

The third picture involves the split-screen credits of Jay Jay the Jet Plane airing during The Let's Go Show. Jay Jay aired during Musical Mornings and The Sprout Sharing Show, but I don't think it aired on The Let's Go Show. PBS Kids Sprout TV Wiki doesn't say it did.

The fourth images shows an introduction for Ruff-Ruff, Tweet, and Dave on The Good Night Show. This has to be anywhere from Seasons 3 to 5, as, during those seasons, Lucy introduced shows via stars, whereas in the last three seasons, she introduced shows via a full moon. Two things: 1. Ruff-Ruff, Tweet, and Dave premiered on February 14th, 2015. 2. The You and Me Tree was introduced in 2011, and the Goodnight Garden seasons stopped airing a year later in 2012, so this picture has to be fake. Sorry, TV Media Fan!

The fifth and final image is of an airing of Super WHY! on Sprout. This could be real, and, if so, may be the only image that is real.

Everyday Moments

 

Madeline Fretz - Last night while editing the wiki (I'm a big fan of the wiki) and preparing for bed, I came across this cute little video from 2014. It is one of the only Sprout videos Peacock Jr. still has up on their channel (I once had a dream where the channel was called "Peacock Soup" (I think) and still had Sprout videos (including ones from the first generation) up on its channel). The description even mentions Sprout. The video is called "Everyday Moments" and is about how parents and kids use Sprout in their everyday lives.

The video has several little noticeable things. Like for one, a family can be seen watching the original Astroblast! pilot. The video was released online on March 27th, 2014, a few months before Astroblast! premiered on Sprout.

Several scenes from this video are re-used in both a Sprout's Viewer Circle commercial and a commercial for Sprout's Mom is Here.

In one scene, a little girl can be seen watching The Sunny Side Up Show (a clip of Carly and Chica to be precise) on her iPad with her Chica plush while her father hands her some cereal. The Find More of This Show bug can noticeably be seen on the iPad.

A family can be seen watching a Good Night Show episode from either Season 6 or 7, but I'm not sure what episode, could be one from the Goodnight Stories DVD.

A girl can be seen playing on the Good Night Star app with her parents.

Anyways, that's all I've noticed about the video. Have you noticed anything? I also made a wiki page for the video so you can learn more about it (PBS Kids Sprout TV Wiki is all about learning new things about Sprout, right?).

Madeline Fretz - Yesterday I was on the Vimeo website searching for Sprout videos, when I came across this nice little Chica Show promotional video - Behind the Squeak, and uploaded it to my channel. The video is about how Chica became famous and got her own show.

Before Chica was born, her parents were in musicals together, making them the first traveling chicken duo. Once Chica was hatched from her egg, she started to dance. Chica's presence spread like wildfire, and she had to be on TV. She made her debut on The Sunny Side Up Show, where she first met her close friend Kelly. News articles about Chica were published every minute and lots of celebrities (Barney, Oscar the Grouch, Richard Blais, Mario Lopez, Dan Zanes…) wanted to meet her. Apparently Chica became so popular, that Andrew Beecham gave her her own show. She liked dressing up, and her parents ran a costume shop, so it was clear that the new show would take place there. Mr. and Mrs. C needed an extra set of hands, and found them in Kelly, who reenacted her face when she learned they hired her. You’ll find a lot of rare footage and pictures in the video.

This is a nice little video and a great backstory on the world's most famous puppet. Besides, this makes me hungry for the Sprout history video I wrote about on this very website months ago. If only I could find it…

Sprout YouTube channel URL changed

 

Madeline Fretz - Sprout became Universal Kids in 2017, and its YouTube channel became Universal Kids Preschool after a while, and once again became Peacock Jr. when the Peacock streaming service launched. Even with those channel changes, its URL hasn't changed a bit. Until now.

Apparently, according to a user on Discord's Sprout fan server, the Sprout channel's URL has been changed to PeacockJr. The Sprout URL, like I said earlier, has been there for years, even after the Universal Kids switchover.

Anyways, despite this, some Sprout videos are still up on the Peacock Jr. YouTube channel … for now. They might become private or get deleted someday. A few months ago, the Peacock Jr. channel has made some Sunny Side Up Show videos private. Don’t despair, some of us may reupload them.

The Sunny Side Up Show pics from 2011 YouTube

 Here are some Sunny Side Up Show pictures I found on a 2011 archive on YouTube. They’re all very small, not to mention low quality, though, but ignore that. I also medium-sized them so they wouldn’t be so small.

Sproutlets, Beware of Unsettling Fake Sprout Anti-Piracy Screens!

 

Madeline Fretz - Hi, Sproutlets. Maddie Fretz here from my first day as a 9th grader at Midlothian High School. So, if you see any of the videos above while surfing YouTube, AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS! If you find yourself about to watch them, DON'T! They feature Chica, Kelly, and Stitches from The Chica Show with creepy faces seen on other fake anti-piracy screen videos. They're also fake, not real. The best comparison I can make is this fake Qubo video.

Both videos feature disturbing stuff, not to mention, like I said earlier, they're both fanmade. Back to the Sprout videos. When I first saw them, I disliked and reported them all for harmful or dangerous acts. And I believe everyone else should do the same to keep young individuals safe. I don't want anyone getting emotionally hurt by these creepy, unsettling videos.

My Life as a Sprout Fan

Madeline Fretz - I don’t like to get personal on this blog, but I'm entering high school tomorrow. I don't know how many views/reads this blog gets, but when I tell people about it, they're mostly like "I didn't know there's a Sprout blog. I miss Sprout. Wasn't there a nighttime show with that lady and star puppet? And a morning version with a chicken?" or "You mean the kids channel? Aren't you fourteen or something?" Today I'm here to tell you about my history (probably abridged) with Sprout.

When I was little, I watched On Demand with my parents. I discovered Sprout through one word: Caillou. Yes, that bald kid you all hate. I may be one of the only ones who likes him (LOL!) Before the show, a short spot about Sprout's ventures (this was it) played. During the show, a pinwheel screenbug would summon the Sprout logo. And after the show, a promo for the show aired. I'm guessing this was around 2009 or 2010. Not sure what cable provider this was (Verizon Fios maybe?). I then watched Barney & Friends and Sesame Street (two other favorites) on demand and also on the 24-hour linear channel (Flashback: After the former show ended, some split-screen credits said it was either coming up later on or next again and a female announcer said "Let's dance and boogie with Barney!") When watching Sprout later on, I discovered the "Live Sprout" and Sprout Viewer Circle commercials.

Then I discovered The Good Night Show, The Sunny Side Up Show, and The Sprout Sharing Show. They were strange but I was mesmerized (Another flashback: I remember Lucy the Firefly flying by during Caillou credits after the juice episode). When it was time for bed, I watched The Good Night Show and remember being hooked by the Sunny Side Up Show "Today's Birthdays" segments, I wanted more, more, more (even when Thomas & Friends came on). (Yet another flashback: I remember a Sunny Side Up Show segment where Kelly Vrooman (or was it another host?) and Chica played with a spinning wheel where they had to hop like Baby Bop, climb up a beanstalk like Super WHY!, and dive like Olly). I also went on Sproutonline.com sometimes. I remember a Good Night Show video of Nina maybe reading a story and later seeing her sleeping. I also remember a video of Barney, Kelly Vrooman, and Chica on The Sunny Side Up Show answering phone calls from viewers (I remember one was named "Sarah"). I discovered "Sprout's Snooze-a-Thon" when wanting to watch Barney & Friends which I did that day, and my mom fired it up on demand. I found a montage of characters sleeping odd, but find it soothing nowadays. (Once again another flashback: One time, I remembered watching Sean Roach and Chica singing "If You're Kind and You Know It").

When I entered preschool in 2011, I watched Sprout's Wiggly Waffle almost every day before school. At school, I played on the computer at the near-end-of-the-day. I went on other websites such as PBSKids.org and Sesamestreet.org, but I mostly went on, you guessed it, Sproutonline.com. I remember the 2011 website and watching Sunny Side Up Show videos (there are a few I remember). I remembered watching 2011's "Sweet Goodnight Treat" and the Kipper ghost episode aired. One time, I watched an episode of iTunes' Sprout Diner "Time to Create" podcast (not sure what it was, but I remember seeing a Sprout Sharing Show advertisement and the "Sprout is Always Here for You" jingle before the main feature). I also had most of the Sprout iPhone apps.

Fast forward to late 2014 and early 2015. I became a big Wiggles fan and started going to Sproutonline.com regularly (from what I remember, the Sharing Show and Kindness Counts were both removed from the website in early 2015, but the latter came back for the rebrand that year). I remember the 2013 website and Sprout Tunes (AKA Music Maker). The same year, I started watching Sprout videos on YouTube and learned more about Sprout history. I also founded a Sprout blog called "Let's Grow" (named after both the old Sprout slogan and a Sprout fan YouTuber).

In 2019, I started my YouTube channel Playtime, All the Time: CBeebies Utopia and started uploading CBeebies and Sprout videos on there. I also started editing at PBS Kids Sprout TV Wiki under the username Maddiellabie. I still edit there today, and, as an admin, have made the most edits out of any user on the wiki. In February 2020, I founded the blog you are reading right now. As you can see, Sprout is EVERYWHERE in my life! I may be the world's biggest Sprout fan.

Clips from Wiggly Waffle launch day FOUND!

 Attention all Sproutlets and Wiggles fans alike! I’ve found a YouTube video from a Wiggles fan and, since it's a temporary upload, I decided to upload it on my ow channel! Do you have any idea what it is?

No. Well, I’m gonna tell you. Are you sitting down?

Sitting down on a moon couch with a star-shaped pillow puppet? Laying eggs? Driving a cardboard car or the Big Red Car?

Because...

Wait for it...

IT CONTAINS CLIPS FROM THE VERY FIRST BROADCAST OF WIGGLY WAFFLE!!!

That's right folks! That was the video I was talking about earlier. It contains split-screen credits after a Wiggle and Learn episode and Sam, age 4, Bethesda, Maryland as the fifth wiggle dancing to "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes." The Wiggles were also on The Sunny Side Up Show that day with Kelly Vrooman and Chica. Noticeably, there is a first generation scroll with a message about the block's launch.

I hope we'll find clips from The Sunny Side Up Show's, The Let's Go Show's, and/or The Sprout Sharing Show's launch days, since they’re too good to be lost. Maybe we'll even find Sprout clips from its launch day in 2005! Fingers crossed.

EDIT: I deleted the video and replaced it with a full launch day clip that was uploaded today.

The Sunny Side Up Show YouTube videos from Peacock Jr. made private

 

Attention everyone. I have news. The Peacock jr. account has made most Sunny Side Up Show videos on their YouTube channel private, meaning they’re now unavailable. Now, before you get all grouchy, take a deep breath, maybe count to ten, they may become unlisted or even public again someday. In the meantime, you can check out SSU videos from my channel, Let's Grow, jackiempayton, and some other accounts. Those channels may get terminated someday. And while we’re at it, we're waiting for more classic Sunny Side Up Show segments, cause there's a big market for them. Who knows, maybe someone like me will find them someday?
